Description
Sometimes when I choose to include something like this in my collection, I'll wonder to myself... Is anyone, other than me, going to see any appeal in an image of... basically, almost nothing? When I was framing this up to take the shot, I vaguely wondered why this rather narrow band of pasture was fenced off... not adjacent to, or even near, any shed, barn or building... But I was primarily intrigued by the contrasts of shadow and light.. rather dark where I stood, with an overcast but still bright sky at the crest of the hill. I thought I could exploit these contrasts with a little judicious post-processing.... I edited to recapture some of the detail on the gate... the texture of the wood, the little bits of lichen and moss growing here and there; then I decided to play up the brightness beyond the gate... going for a misty, foggy look gradually blending right into the bright sky. Still, absolutely nothing going on here... but I like the look and the mood, so here it is.....

and you created an excellent piece of art to look at and stand in front of relishing the peace and quiet of it. I love it, David.
