Description
Detail of the Chupaderos" meteorite found in Chihuahua and now on display at the Palacio/Colegio de Mineria in the historic center of Mexico City. Two enormous iron masses of 14.114 and 6.676 tons were found only 250 meters apart about 25 km from Jimenez. Additional separated masses, including the 3.4 ton 'Adargas' mass found 40 km away, were subsequently identified as fragments of the same original fall. Chupaderos was the 2nd most massive iron meteorite listed with the Meteoritical Bulletin Database. It is believed it's fall was witnesed by the indigenous during the time of the conquest.
